Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am playing with the Wonderful Florals stamps/die set from Concord & 9th that I purchased recently. I stamped the image onto White Bristol Smooth Cardstock and colored using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I am a little out of my comfort zone with these markers, but as I have had them for about 2 years now without using them much, this year I am on a mission to use them a little bit more.

I die cut the "Wonderful" sentiment using the coordinating die set from White Cardstock and then colored these with Copics to give an ombre look. I then added Nuvo Glitter Gloss Aqua Shimmer pen.

For the background I stamped Simon Says Stamp Wide Stripes Background Stamp onto pink cardstock using black ink.

For the berries I added Nuvo English Mustard Gloss Crystal Drops. To finish off the card I added White Rhinestones over the background.

For the inside of the card I added another stamped background strip on the left hand side of the card.

I added a flower and a sentiment to finish off the card.

Paper: White; White Bristol Smooth; Black; Pink
Dies: Wonderful Florals - Concord & 9th

Mr & Mrs Pocket Card

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have a wedding Pocket Card to share with you today using the ModaScrap Lace Card die set and a few A Way with Words sentiment dies all available  from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Before assembling the pocket card I adhered some Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the lacy area of the pocket card and then applied Solar Gold Silk Microfine Glitter over the adhesive.

I cut a stencil using the release paper from the Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape so that I could use this to add the same design to the card insert that goes into the pocket. Here I used the Solar Gold and Basic Black Silk Microfine Glitters.

I added a gold sheer ribbon to the lacy area of the pocket card.

For the portion of the card that can be seen when it is in the pocket, I added a Way with Words Mr/Mrs as well as the '&' and hearts from the A Way with Words - Calligraphic Elements 2 die set.

For the inside of my card I used A Way With Words - Cherish and Forever die sets. I also added some Line Peel Off Stickers to the lower end of the card.

Mission Control We Have A Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Bonnie Sharp our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

Being the third Saturday of the month it is time for a sketch challenge.

When I first saw this sketch I thought hmmm this one is going to be a tough one, but the more I looked at the sketch the half circle on the bottom of the sketch reminded me of either the moon or a grassy hillside.

I wanted to play with doing the Galaxy Sky Technique using Distress Oxide inks, so a space theme card it became. I really liked how easy it was to create the background using Distress Oxide inks.

I used stamps from MFT Stamps and There She Goes Stamps to create the space themed card.

Most of you know I love making pop-up cards so that is what I did for the inside. I used Karen Burniston's Cupcake Pop-up Card die set to die cut the cupcake pop up die from white cardstock and then masked each of the areas to create the moon surface and space scene.

I love how easy it is to disguise the fact that the pop up is a cupcake.

I decorated the top part of the inside using spaceman, planets, stars and a space ship. On the bottom panel I added a birthday sentiment, the 8th from Karen's Numbers die set and an alien.

This is another card that my grandson will get for his 8th birthday later this year, probably from his auntie.

Here is another view of the inside of the card taken at an angle, so you can see the pop-up portion of the card a little easier.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Our challenge hostess for the month, Vicky Gould continues to issue the challenges.

St. Patrick’s Day is this Saturday…. make a card featuring green – it can be a St. Patrick’s card, but you can also choose to just use the color green (not all of us are Irish, but we do need cards of various types!)

I used the Concord & 9th Stuck on You Clear Stamp set to stamp the cactus image and after coloring the image and die cutting with the Stitched Mod Rectangle die, I die cut the "Hugs" sentiment from the lower portion of the cactus. Not sure I would want to really hug a cactus ... but I figured it was a fun sentiment to use.

I used one of the smaller cactus images from the stamp set to create the background of my card.

As you can see I have used the Camouflaging Die Cuts or Eclipse Technique on my card again this week. I had originally made this for last week's challenge ... as another one I was making was giving me trouble. But I kept seeing green when I was making this card and I finally got the other to work as I wanted it, so kept this card for this week's challenge. I have a couple of 'green' cards to make this week so it made sense to use this one for one of them.

For the inside of my card, I used another stamp from the stamp set on the background and then used the Katherine Label Pop-up Card die set to create a double pop-up card.

Here is a close up look at the left hand side of the inside of my card. I added the "Stuck on You" sentiment from the stamp set and a small cactus.

For the right hand side of my card I added the larger cactus to the label from the Katherine Label Pop-up Card die set and then a smaller one to the lower right hand corner of the card.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Surprise! Happy Birthday Els Blog Hop

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's Els van de Burgt's birthday and what better way to celebrate but with a surprise Birthday Blog Hop with the Elizabeth Crafts Design Team! Happy Birthday Els!

We hope you will join us in making Els birthday a wonderful day, by dropping by our Elizabeth Craft Designs Family Facebook Group and wishing her a happy birthday.

The hop started at Elizabeth Craft Designs blog, so if you just happened to hop onto my blog you might like to head back to there first so you don't miss out on any of the fun!

Earlier in the year I created a couple of Star Effect Cards and I promised to create a tutorial on how to create them which I hadn't gotten around to do, So I decided to create another for today's blog hop so that I could finally do a tutorial for you all. You can see my previous two Star Effect Cards here.

Before I get onto the tutorial I will explain what I used to decorate my card today. First up I used Garden Notes - Dahlia 2 to create my Dahlia flower, Susan Tierney-Cockburn shows how to make these on her Facebook Live Video here (you will find it about 14 mins into the video). I added a couple of ferns using the Garden Notes - Ladder Fern and also a couple of sprays of berries using the Garden Notes - Leafy Berry Branch 1.

The sentiment is from the A Way With Words - Happy Birthday Collection and is layered onto circles die cut using circles from both the Dashing Circles and Dotted Scallop Circles die sets.

Here is how to create the Star Effect Card:

Step 1 -
  • Cut a piece of cardstock so it measures 6 inches x 5 inches in color of choice (brown used here)
  • Cut a piece of patterned paper so it measures 5 3/4 inches x 4 3/4 inches of your choice (ModaScrap Wood Effect Patterned Paper Pack used here.

Step 2 -
  • Using the cardstock piece, score along the long side at 3 inches.

Step 3 -
  • Using a trimmer, line up the cardstock so that the point of the centre and the edge are lined up. Cut.
  • Repeat on other side. Refer to photo above ... dotted lines are score lines, solid lines cut lines.

  • You should now have three pieces of cardstock that looks like the photo above.  The centre piece will be the base of your card.

Step 4 -
  • Take the patterned paper and cut in half at 2 7/8 inches.
  • On the first half of the patterned paper cut in half diagonally from the top right hand corner to the bottom left hand corner.
  • For the second half of the patterned paper cut in half diagonally from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner.
  • Your paper should look like that above.
  • Adhere the papers onto each of the triangle panels on the card and single triangle pieces.

Step 5 -
  • Measure up the straight edge of the folded card base 2 inches on each side and mark with pencil.
  • Measure from this point down 3/4 inches and mark with pencil.
  • Cut from the 2 inch mark down to the 3/4 inch mark.
  • Cut a thin sliver out of each slit you just created.

Step 6 -
  • Lay one of the single triangle pieces over the other, referring to photo above and adhere together.

Step 7 -
  • Place the attached cross triangle panel into the slits of the folded base card.
  • Decorate as desired.

Well now it is time to leave my blog as you continue along our birthday hop. Your next stop is to the talented Karen Nofziger Don’t forget to pop on over to our Elizabeth Craft Designs Family Facebook Group too to wish Els a happy birthday!

Here is the complete blog hop list if you need it.

Hey There

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have a cute doggy card to share with you today. I used the Mama Elephant Favor Accessory - Dog die set to create my dog.

For the background I stamps the Paw Background from Simon Says Stamp onto white cardstock using VersaMark ink and embossed this using white embossing powder. I then added Distress Oxide inks in Lucky Clover; Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet all over the card. This card was then die cut using the largest square from the Dashing Squares die set.

For the sentiment I used one of the sentiments from the Fabulous Phrases die set from Concord & 9th which I mounted onto a white circle which was created using Dashing Squares and Dashing Circles so I could get the dashed lines on the three sides of the card.

To finish off the card I used a bone from MFT Stamps Pet Accents die set, which is an older set I have had for some time.

For the inside of the card I added another dog to the lower left hand corner of the card, cutting it off square to the corners.

I added a sentiment from Concord & 9th's Everyday Greetings Clear Stamp set and added two paw prints created using MFT Stamps Paw Charms Die-namics another older die set.

Stamps: Paws Background - Simon Says Stamp; Everyday Greetings - Concord & 9th

A Green Birthday Card

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our February Paper Pros challenge. This month our challenge is again hosted by Raquel Mason. As St Patricks Day is just a few days away, Raquel has given us the theme of .... Green

I was going to do something different that what I finally came up with for this challenge, but decided what I was going to do probably didn't have enough green in it. So as you can see I ended up pulling out my Snowman Twist Circle Pop-up Card die set, which has been neglected this year while I have been playing will all Karen Burniston's new release dies to make a Twist Circle Pop-up Card.

I think you would agree that there is no denying that this is a green card!

To decorate my card I used the Outdoor Scene die set to create the cute deer and the trees on the pop-up circle part of this card.

I used the two larger labels from the Katherine Label Pop-up die set to stamp the "It's Your" and "birthday".

I used the Gift Card Label die set and the Happy Birthday die to decorate the front of my card, adding a bronze rhinestone to the centre of the fleur de lis.

Here is one final photo showing my card as it is closing, the circle part of the card "twists" to the opposite direction as it closes.

You can see what the other "Paper Pros" created for this challenge on their blogs:
