ECD Design Team Focus on New Release - Susan's Garden

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today the Elizabeth Craft Designs Design Team are doing another Focus on New Release blog post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog. This time around we are focusing on Susan's Garden who has just released 8 brand new dies. Susan's Tierney-Cockburn designs flower dies that are realistic, just like those we find in nature.

For my card today I have used the new Garden Notes - Cornflower Bachelor Button die set. I die cut all the pieces from White Soft Finish Cardstock and then colored each of the pieces with copic markers and PanPastels. After shaping each of the parts of the flower I adhered them together using Kids Choice glue.

I created my card using the Stitched Squares and Fitted Squares die sets for the layers. For the white layer, I embossed half of the card using the Dancing Leaves Embossing Folder. On the other side of this panel I adhered a piece of patterned paper from the ModaScrap Color of Puppies Girl Patterned Paper Pack. This was all adhered to a top folding square card.

I stamped the Celebrate sentiment which is from the A Way with Words Happy Birthday Collection Clear Stamp set to the lower right hand corner of my card.

I adhered the flowers onto a white oval die cut using the Stitched Ovals die set and layered this onto pink cardstock die cut using the Dotted Scallop Ovals die set. After arranging the flowers to my card I then added the some branches using the Garden Notes - Leafy Berry Branch 1 die set which I die cut from brown cardstock and then added Nuvo Drops for the berries.

Of course I always like to decorate the inside of my card when I create a card. I used the Stitched Squares and Fitted Squares again for the layers. I stamped another sentiment from the A Way with Words - Happy Birthday Collection Clear Stamp set.

To finish off the inside of the card I trimmed a piece from one of the Garden Notes - Leafy Berry Branch 1 die set to the lower right hand corner of the card.

ECD Design Team Focus on New Release - Becky Seddon

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a masculine card using a few of the new Becky Seddon dies which are b being released by Elizabeth Craft Designs today. Check our Elizabeth Craft Designs Design Team Focus on New Release - Becky Seddon blog post for even more inspiration using these new dies.

For my card I die cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock using the largest square from the Fitted Squares die set. I created the background using distress oxides ink. I created a stencil using the flourish included in Becky Seddon's Vintage Gentleman die set which I sponged onto the background using distress ink. This was then spritz using a distress sprayer so that the background was subtle.

The background square was layered onto a black cardstock piece die cut using the Stitched Squares die set.

For the base of my card I used the postage square included in the Lake Scene die set. I adhere a top folded 5 1/2 inch square white card to the back of this panel.

To decorate my card I used the gramophone from the Vintage Gentleman die, die cutting it from White Soft Finish Cardstock and then coloring using inks. This was adhered to the lower left hand corner of my card.

The "For You" sentiment is from the Take Time For You die set, I trimmed of the "I" which was attached to the top of the sentiment and then adhered this to the top right hand corner of my card.

To finish the card I added a few music notes also from the Vintage Gentleman die set.

For the inside of my card I stamped the "Happy Birthday" from the A Way with Words - Happy Birthday Collection Clear Stamp set to the centre of the card.

I die cut two flourishes from the Vintage Gentleman die set, sponged them with brown ink and adhered them to the card.

Best Year Ever

Hi Crafty Friends,

I am playing with a couple more things I received recently for Christmas. I just love this cute stamp set from Mama Elephant.

I created a Gatefold Shutter card using the Nellie Snellen Magic Card Round die set. When you open the card, the circle at the centre top opens up.

To create the background for this card I used Hero Art's Waves Stencil using Wild Honey; Spiced Marmalade and Candied Apples Distress Oxide Inks.

I added the dancing lion, kids and ornaments to the front of the card.

The sentiment is from MFT Stamps Good Fortune stamp set.

To finish off the front of the card I added Nuvo Drops in red and yellow.

Here you can see when the card is partially open and the sentiment in the top centre circle is only partly seen.

One final photo of my card when it is closed laying on my desk.

Best Friends

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am playing with a few more new toys I received for Christmas. First the card base which was die cut using the Tattered Lace Tri-fold Card die set. This card is WAYYYYYY bigger than I was expecting it to be, it is basically A4 in size, it comes with lots of decorator dies which I didn't use except for a few to add the layering. Maybe next time I will play with some of the other pieces in the set.

Here is another view of my card taken at a different angle, so you can see all the folds in the card. To decorate my card I used Art Impressions/Hampton Arts Aged to Perfect stamp set.

Quacky Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. As challenge hostess for the month, I continue to issue the challenges.

Apparently today is Rubber Duckie Day … let's celebrate by including a duck or two on our cards this week. Don't have anything duck related what about chickens, geese, turkeys etc.

For my card today I have finally  pulled out an EK Success stamp set that I have had for ages and not used .... I had actually forgotten about the set until someone else used it for something last year .... I think it was last year!

As you can see I have created a pop up card. I used Karen Burniston's Cupcake Pop-up Card die set for my card and cover the cupcake with a rectangle piece of card which I also decorated to match the background of the card.

I used the Nature Edges die set to add the grass along the bottom and the clouds along the top edge of the card.

I added a "duck" theme sentiment to the rectangle on the pop up which is from a SugarPea Designs stamp set and I computer generated the "Quacky Birthday" sentiment.

For the front of the card I have again used the duck images as well as the grass and clouds that I used on the inside of the card.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Looking Sharp

Happy New Year Crafty Friends,

I hope 2018 brings you everything you wish for and more!!!!

I recently purchased a new Spellbinders Platinum 6 die cutting machine which was on special and to get free postage I had to spend another $11 so I went looking at the dies and found this fun Sizzix Cactus Fold-A-Long Thinlits die set which was on special. As I had been thinking about this die set for some time, I popped it into my cart along with one more die 😀.

Shhhh don't tell anyone, but I unboxed the die cutting machine and tested it on this card and then packed it up again so it could go under the tree hehe as my other two machines were making a mess of it.

When you pull the card open it reveals an accordion card with a smaller cacti in the centre. I love those sunnies and that sentiment, which will come in handy for my other cacti stamps/die I have.

Happy Mother's Day

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Liz Williams our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

In honor of “Hot Tea Month,” use a teapot or teacup on your card or use a “tea stain” technique if you like.

As you can see I have created a Mother's Day card for the challenge today. I know Mother's Day is a fair way away still, however while I was at the craft show in November, I picked up a tea themed stamp set from Close to My Heart and one of the cups has the "Happy Mother's Day on the cup. I always need a few Mother's Day cards  in my stash so it was a good excuse to use it.

I have created a "pull card" using the Pop it Ups Circle Spiral Pull Card die set which has now been discontinued.

I colored the cup to match the teapot and cups in the designer paper. You probably can't see in the photo, but I also added some shimmer to the cup using the Tonic Studios Shimmer Pen.

When you "pull" the card open it reveals a sentiment. I have added another blank circle which can be used to handwrite a personal message.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Ap-parrot-ly It's Your Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our Paper Pros challenge for January 2018, we are excited to be back this year with our challenges. This month our challenge is again hosted by Me! The theme this month is .... Tag You're It which gives us all the opportunity to play with Karen Burniston's Tag Book Pop-up die set.

I have again decided to use the inner part of the Tag Book Pop-up die set to create a Tag Card Pop-up.

To decorate my card I have used a stamp set from Your Next Stamp which I received for Christmas. I love these cute parrots and the fun sentiments that come with the set.

Here is a look at my card when it is lying open flat on the desk, so you can see the folds of the pop-up part of this tag book pop-up a little easier.

I kept the front of the card fairly simple, die cutting a Wonky Stitched Rectangle for the white rectangle. I stamped the "happy" from Honey Bee Stamps Happiness stamp set in black ink and then stamped the "Birthday To You" onto pink cardstock and embossed in white.

I added the same two parrots that I used on the inside on the corners of my rectangle.

Finally I added Nuvo Jewel Drops in various colors to the white rectangle.

You can see what the other "Paper Pros" created for this challenge on their blogs:

ECD Design Team Focus on New Release – ModaScrap

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a card I created using some of the new ModaScrap dies which are being released by Elizabeth Craft Designs today.

Over the next few weeks this month Elizabeth Craft Designs will be releasing dies and clear stamp sets from five of their Licensed Designers. This year with each release we will be having a Design Team Focus on New Release day on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog to showcase some of the wonderful products being released.
Today Elizabeth Craft Designs will be releasing new products from ModaScrap which includes twelve brand new die sets and one new stamp set.

I only received my ModaScrap dies on Sunday afternoon, but I wanted to share something I had made so I quickly made my card using the new ModaScrap Happy Frame; True Love; Dashing Squares; Flowers Lace Frame and Love, Life Tag die sets.

The Happy Frame die set can create frames up to 7 1/2 inches square, which would be suitable for so many different things. Just by changing the length of the frames once they are die cut, you can create either square or rectangle frames to any size you desire. There are actually two different versions of the Happy Frame ... the one I used here called Happy Frames the width of the frame is about 1cm wide. The Happy Frame XL die set allows you to make frames which are about 1 inch wide.

Today I have used the Happy Frame to create a Shadow Box Frame Card. Here is how I created my card.

Step 1 -
  • Using the Happy Frame die, die cut 4 frames from your desired paper or cardstock. Note if you are using a patterned paper that has a definite direction of the pattern you need to think before you die cut your papers ... If you look at the photo above you can see that I changed the direction of how I placed the die onto my cardstock prior to die cutting so that the finished frame would be have the pattern all going in the same direction. Of course using plain or an generic pattern is much easier to do.
  • Trim the straight edge of each of the frame die cuts to the desired length. For my card I cut them all to 5 3/8 inches.
  • Fold each of the frames along the four score lines of each panel. Note - it is easier to fold along each fold line in a valley fold first and then fold it into a mountain fold once you have folded along each fold line.
  • Place a piece of Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape along the tab (shortest edge).
  • Remove the protective backing from the adhesive and bring the other edge over and secure to the adhesive.
  • Form a box shape with each of the frame panels.
  • Arrange each of the frames to form a square (or rectangle) so that each of the pointed edges are all going in the same direction. (This is also a good time to make sure the pattern on your paper is all going the correct way).
  • Apply some adhesive to the three inner sides of the pointy end of one of the box frame pieces and place the square end of the other into it. Ensure that you have a neat corner.

  • Repeat the last step until you have all four corners glued to form a frame.
Step 2 -
  • Cut a piece of white cardstock so it measures 5 3/8 inches x 10 3/4 inches. Score and fold along the long side at 5 3/8 inches to form a side folding 5 3/8 inch square card.
  • Apply adhesive to the back of the frame and adhere to the front of the folded card.

Step 3 -
  • Using the Dashing Squares die set die cut a square from red cardstock (5th square counting from the centre die)
  • Die cut the next smallest square from White Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Adhere the white square so it looks like a diamond shape to the red square using foam tape.
  • Adhere the red square to the centre of the card using foam tape.
Step 4 -
  • Using the "love heart" die from the True Love die set die cut heart from red and also gold cardstock. Adhere the red heart shape to a piece of scrap white cardstock, trim around edge of gold heart. Now paper piece the red pieces where the white cardstock is revealed.
  • Adhere heart to centre of squares using foam tape.
Step 5 -
  • Using the heart die from the Love, Life Tag die cut the larger heart from white cardstock and adhere each heart into the corners of the red square,
  • Adhere the smaller hearts from red cardstock and adhere around large "love heart" referring to photo above.
Step 6 -
  • Adhere a piece of Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the front of a piece of red cardstock. Die cut four of the smallest hearts from the True Love die set.
  • Remove the protective backing from the tape and cover the adhesive with Bright Cranberry Silk Microfine Glitter. Polish adhesive into adhesive using your finger.
  • Adhere hearts to the outer frame using photo at top of post as a guide.

Step 7 Inside of Card -
  • Using the Dashing Squares die set, die cut the second largest square from red cardstock.
  • Die cut another square from white cardstock which is slightly smaller.
  • Place the decorative die from the Flowers Lace Frame die set to the lower right hand corner of the white square and die cut.
  • Adhere white square to red square.
  • Using the sentiment from Valentine's Sentiments, stamp onto the centre of white square using black ink.
  • Die cut three hearts from the Love, Life Tag die set from red cardstock and adhere to the top left hand corner of card.
Don't forget to check out the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog to see all the wonderful creations our Design Team have created using the new dies.

Hug in a Mug

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a card I created using Honey Bee Stamps Coffee Cup Card die set. I love shaped cards and this one is easy to create and has so many different ways that you can use it.

For my card today I just made a Coffee Cup shaped card.

To decorate my card I used one of the cute penguins in a stamp set from Uniquely Creative along with the "Sending Warm Birthday Wishes"

I also used Honey Bee Stamps Perfect Blend stamp set for the Hug in a Mug and the coffee beans.

The tiny coffee mug the penguin is holding is from a stamp set from The Stamps of Life.

Here is a look at the inside of my card, I used some of the sentiments from Honey Bee Stamps Perfect Blend stamp set.

Make a Wish

Hi Crafty Friends,

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. My card today used a stamp set I got back in November when I visited the local Craft Show. I die cut a piece of white card using one of the dies from MFT Stamps Stitched Scallop Basic Edge, masked along the stitch lines and stamped the girl.

I added a sentiment to the right hand side of the card and then added Nuvo Drops randomly around the card.

For the inside of my card I used the same edge die that I used on the front to die cut the red patterned paper at the top of the card.

I added a birthday sentiment and some buttons using black ink.

Stamps: Rag Doll - Leonie-Pujol; All Occasions - Uniquely Creative
Paper: White; Home for Christmas Paper Pack - Papermania
Dies: Stitched Scallop Basic Edge - MFT Stamps
Other: Black Ink; Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal Drops; Rosewater Nuvo Jewel Drops; White Gel Pen; Foam Tape; Copics
